DevHouse
Earlier this month I wrote about DevHouse (old post). I was a little critical of the event because I was expecting more out of the event in terms of actual development. After that post I was contacted by Jeff a co-organizer of DevHouse.
Today we spoke and he has a great vision for what DevHouse can offer to the community. Especially in meeting the expectation of creative development and collaboration. Jeff’s vision is basically an event where creative types meet programer types and get them working on their ideas for quick simple programs. PBWiki was created at a DevHouse in California and only started as a shell of an idea that has since grown into its own company. While he certainly would like to see this sort of development happen, that is pie in the sky at this point.
Jeff is dedicated to creating an event that supports local development and entrepreneurship in the Pittsburgh area. I think DevHouse has a lot of great potential so we’ll see where it goes.
My last thought is only this: perhaps this could be an outlet for advance PodCamp PGH attendees to attend and take learning to the next step. While this isn’t a ProCamp it certainly is advanced.
