Music Bin – Aphex Twin Drukqs

Today I dug out some of my old cds. Currently I don’t have an iPod that can hold everything and my new iTunes folder is pretty empty. I pulled a stack of about six disks. First up, Aphex Twin’s Drukqs. I don’t know how to pronounce the title either so don’t worry.

This album came out in 2001 when I was half way through college. There are very few albums I counted down the days until the release but this is one of them. It was the first new album from Aphex Twin since I started listening to him and it was his first major release in years, and it is a double disk. Double win.

One of my favorite songs is this piano piece.

What is unique about this release is it’s interesting mix of electronic songs and gentle piano tracks. The coupling creates something special and unexpected.
