Computer on Hiatus
Today I’m working off a loaner that has all my core data backed up yet not integrated. Email clients are not configured and I’m weighing the options of configuring them on this new machine for the day or two I’ll be down. I’ve never been in this state of flux while expected to work at full capacity before. Usually when changing/upgrading computers I do a backup, copy over the new files, and get back up to speed like normal. Now having to work on a loaner I realize how dependent I am on one machine for so much of everything I do.
Side Note:
While typing this post I discovered all you need to do is copy the right mail folders over and you life is made easy again. I should get some under the hood training in how OS X works.
Anyway. Now that I don’t have all that to worry about this whole situation is still unsettling. I want to draw a comparison to a rental car but that isn’t quite it at all. Well I can be thankful that I didn’t loose all my data in an instant. That would be another kind of disaster.
Update. Mobile Me was exactly what I needed to get my email and calendars synced. It took less time that I expected too.
