New American Music Union Day 1
Friday was the first day of American Eagle’s New American Music Union. The event started for me with a press conference with Anthony Kiedis (see previous post) and ended with the Roots later in the evening. I took a ton of photos and video so here is a @N03/sets/72157606636525915/">link to my flicker photos and I’ll publish my videos on youtube when I get a chance later this week.
So far my thought is that the event is great for Pittsburgh. I hope this can spark an interest in Pittsburgh from other bands and promoters to get the music scene back on track here. There was a little discussion of that at yesterday’s press conference.
One really cool factor about the event is it’s obvious green push. Each attendee gets a refillable water bottle to use to fill up at various stations around the South Side Works. Also there is a cell phone charging station where you can pedal a bike to charge your phone. I was really excited about this because I was about to run out of juice and it is a cool idea. Unfortunately they didn’t have an adapter for an iPhone. People were using the booth and it seemed to be a cool feature. I’ll be heading down to the show for Day 2 in a bit so look for more updates.
